Speech Services

Slow Talking

You may find that your little one is slow to talk. Studies have shown that the percentage of 18-23 month old children with late language emergence (LLE) is reported at 13.5% and it rises to 16%-17.5% in children 30-36 months old (Horowitz et al., 2003; Rescorla and Achenbach 2002.) Early intervention is crucial to success. Anne will complete a comprehensive evaluation and then develop a therapy programs to help your child develop language.

Speech Sound Production

You may find that your child is struggling to correctly produce one or many speech sounds. This can make an impact on your child’s overall intelligibility and may become a frustration as they try to communicate their ideas with others. With her background in speech-language pathology and her certification in orofacial myology, Anne is ideally equipped to help your child acquire correct speech sound production in a fun, child-centered environment. Parents are invited to every therapy session and are an integral part of the therapy success as they take part in therapy assignments suited for the home. While young children are welcome, no one is too old to address an articulation challenge.

HOW DO WE BEGIN?

All speech clients will be evaluated in a comprehensive speech and myofunctional evaluation. Often, a myofunctional therapy program will be put in place to begin and then speech goals introduced as myofunctional skills improve. Once speech goals are initiated, you will be guided in the step by step method used to guide your child through initial production of the new sound through to generalization of the sound to conversational speech.
